Arsenal Announce £69 Million Ezri Konsa Signing

Arsenal strengthen their defence with the signing of England international Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa.

Arsenal, the reigning champions, have won their first win of the season by defeating newly promoted Coventry FC in the first match of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Arsenal’s victory was by three goals to none.

Along with this victory, Arsenal has also announced a big signing for the fans to rejoice. Arsenal has acquired Aston Villa’s English defender Ezri Konsa.

Arsenal has spent around 69 million to acquire the player. Konsa reached an agreement with the Gunners with hours left to start the match against Coventry.

With the arrival of Konsa, Arsenal’s defense has become stronger. Konsa was a regular presence in England’s starting eleven at the World Cup. The player will now share the defense with Brazilian player Gabriel Magalhae in Arsenal’s defense.

Arsenal’s French defender William Saliba has been out for seven months due to injury. That’s why Arsenal are bringing another first-choice defender into the squad.

Konsa will make his Arsenal debut against his former club Aston Villa on September 1.

“It’s a privilege to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I want to keep winning, I’m hungry to win and that’s what I’m here for. I’ll do everything in my power to continue bringing success to this club.”

”It’s a proud moment for me and my family to play for one of the best teams in the world. A lot of emotions have gone through my head, but I think it will really kick in on the first match-day.” Konsa said

This is Arsenal’s third signing of the transfer window, after the Gunners acquired Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and Greek forward Christos Tzolis.

Summary:- Arsenal opened their title defence with a convincing 3-0 victory over newly promoted Coventry City. Shortly after the win, the Gunners confirmed the signing of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa for around £69 million. The England international is expected to strengthen Arsenal’s defence, particularly with William Saliba sidelined through injury.
