Barcelona produced another outstanding attacking display as they defeated Valencia 5-0 at Mestalla on Sunday, continuing their perfect start to the LaLiga season. The victory gave the defending champions 12 points from four matches and moved them three points clear at the top of the table.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a superb finish from a tight angle. Fermín López then doubled Barcelona’s advantage before half-time, as the visitors controlled the game and created several more opportunities.
Barcelona continued their dominance after the break. Raphinha made it 3-0 in the 50th minute after a flowing attacking move involving Yamal and Fermín. Pedri added a fourth late in the match before Yamal completed his brace in the 84th minute.
Fermín was particularly influential, scoring once and assisting two goals, while Yamal’s two-goal performance further underlined his growing importance to Hansi Flick’s side. Barcelona have now scored 17 goals in their opening four league matches, highlighting their impressive attacking form.
The result also leaves Valencia struggling at the bottom of the early league table, with just one point from their opening four matches. For Barcelona, however, the emphatic victory sends a strong message to their rivals: the champions are already looking like a formidable force in the title race.
