India to host three high-profile international friendlies in the next two months

It’s a night of joy for Indian football fans coming. India is set to play friendlies against three top teams, including two former World Cup winners, in the next two months.

India will play former World Cup winners Uruguay, Brazil and Panama. All the matches against them will be played in India.

 

India will face Panama in the first match on September 26. This match will be played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Later, they will face Brazil on October 3 and Uruguay on October 6. Both these matches will be played in Kolkata.

According to the AIFF update, two of the three matches to be played will be played in Kolkata. Earlier, the match against Uruguay was scheduled to be held in Kochi. But it was later shifted to Kolkata.

Similarly, the match against Panama was initially scheduled to be held in Imphal. But due to various reasons, this match was shifted to Bengaluru. The AIFF is expected to spend around Rs 80-90 crore to host these three friendly matches.

This is the first time that Brazil and Panama are coming to play against India. India have faced Uruguay before. Uruguay were the winners of the Nehru Trophy held in Kolkata in 1982.

Uruguay is currently coached by former Mumbai City FC striker and Uruguay legend Diego Forlan. The team will come to India with a squad consisting of Uruguay’s top players for the match against India.

Summary:- India are set to face Brazil, Uruguay and Panama in three major international friendlies. The Blue Tigers will play Panama on September 26 in Bengaluru, Brazil on October 3 in Kolkata and Uruguay on October 6 in Kolkata.
