Mainoo’s connection to Manchester United dates back to 2011 when he first associated with the club at age six. He officially joined the academy in 2014, progressing through the various training sites that define the United development pathway.

Speaking on the extension, Mainoo described the club as his “home” and expressed a deep sense of responsibility. “I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city,” he said in a statement. He noted that his desire to succeed remains as relentless as his first training session.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox praised Mainoo as one of the most naturally gifted young footballers in the world. Wilcox highlighted the midfielder’s technical ability and professionalism as key traits that make him a role model for younger academy prospects.

The club hierarchy views Mainoo as essential to their goal of returning to the pinnacle of domestic and European football. “We have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world,” Wilcox added. Consequently, this extension ensures United retain their most valuable asset as they build momentum for future title challenges.

Mainoo concluded by stating his determination to help United “regularly fight for major trophies” in the coming years. This announcement provides a significant boost to the squad as they navigate the final stages of the 2025-26 season.
