Manchester United 2-2 Everton: Late Drama Denies United Victory

Manchester United were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium , today, after a dramatic late equaliser denied United all three points.

The match came to life after half-time when Bryan Mbeumo put Manchester United ahead with an excellent individual effort. Everton responded strongly, with Tyrique George producing a powerful finish to level the score.

United appeared to have secured victory when Benjamin Šeško headed home in the 87th minute. However, Everton refused to give up. Debutant Ainsley Maitland-Niles produced the decisive moment, firing a spectacular first-time shot from around 30 yards to make it 2-2 and rescue a point for the hosts.

The result leaves Everton unbeaten after their opening three Premier League matches, with five points, while Manchester United have four points and sit 11th. For United, the late collapse will be particularly frustrating after Šeško’s goal appeared to have settled the contest.

Overall, the match highlighted both teams’ attacking quality but also their difficulty in protecting leads. Everton showed impressive resilience to come back twice, while United will feel that they let a valuable away victory slip away in the final moments.
