Premier League clubs have continued to dominate the transfer market, with the 10 most expensive signings of the summer accounting for almost £819m in transfer fees.
The spending is led by Chelsea’s British-record deal for Morgan Rogers, while Manchester City have two of the top five and Tottenham also feature twice in the top four.
With the transfer window still open, the ranking could yet change before deadline day. But the current list already illustrates the extraordinary level of spending among England’s biggest clubs.
1. Morgan Rogers – Aston Villa to Chelsea, £117m
Chelsea’s move for Morgan Rogers tops the Premier League spending chart at £117m.
The England international has emerged as one of the most valuable attacking players in the league after establishing himself as a key figure at Aston Villa.
His transfer also underlines Chelsea’s willingness to invest heavily in players who fit their long-term squad-building strategy.
2. Elliot Anderson – Nottingham Forest to Manchester City, £116m
Manchester City are almost level at the top after paying £116m for Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder is part of Enzo Maresca’s extensive reshaping of City’s squad and has been brought in as the club rebuilds its midfield.
City’s spending has been particularly aggressive this summer, with Ayyoub Bouaddi also arriving from Lille for £81.4m.
3. Sandro Tonali – Newcastle to Tottenham, £92.5m
Sandro Tonali’s £92.5m move from Newcastle to Tottenham makes him the third-most expensive Premier League signing of the summer.
The Italy international brings Premier League experience to a Tottenham side that has invested heavily in strengthening its squad.
His transfer is also Newcastle’s biggest outgoing deal in the current window.
4. Mateus Fernandes – West Ham to Tottenham, £85m
Tottenham appear twice in the top four, with Mateus Fernandes joining from West Ham for £85m.
The deal takes Spurs’ spending to another level as they continue to reshape their squad for the new campaign.
Having two players in the top four also makes Tottenham one of the biggest drivers of the summer’s transfer inflation.
5. Ayyoub Bouaddi – Lille to Manchester City, £81.4m
At just 18, Ayyoub Bouaddi is one of the most intriguing names on the list.
Manchester City have committed £81.4m to bring the highly rated midfielder from Lille, making him one of the most expensive teenagers in Premier League history. Recent reports describe the move as part of City’s longer-term plan to rebuild their midfield.
Maresca has already urged patience with the teenager as he adapts to English football and a new environment.
6. Bruno Guimaraes – Newcastle to Arsenal, £75m
Arsenal paid £75m for Bruno Guimaraes, adding an established Premier League midfielder to their title-winning squad.
The Brazilian’s arrival represents one of the clearest examples of a leading club spending heavily on a player who already understands the demands of English football.
For Arsenal, the deal is part of an effort to strengthen the squad rather than simply replace an existing player.
7. Savinho – Manchester City to Tottenham, £75m
Tottenham’s third appearance among the biggest deals comes with the signing of Savinho from Manchester City for £75m.
The Brazilian winger gives Spurs another attacking option and highlights the scale of their recruitment this summer.
His transfer also contributes to the growing movement of established Premier League players between clubs at the top end of the market.
8. Carlos Baleba – Brighton to Manchester United, £70m

9. Jeremy Jacquet – Rennes to Liverpool, £55m

Jacquet’s arrival is one of several major investments made by Premier League clubs in young players with significant development potential.
10. Maxence Lacroix – Crystal Palace to Chelsea, £52m
Chelsea complete the top 10 with Maxence Lacroix, who moved from Crystal Palace for £52m.
The French defender gives Chelsea another significant investment at the back and means the Blues have two players among the 10 most expensive Premier League signings of the summer.
Premier League spending continues to set the pace
The numbers underline the extraordinary financial strength of the Premier League transfer market.
The 10 deals above alone amount to £818.9m, an average of almost £82m per player.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham each have two players in the top 10, while Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle each have one.
More broadly, Premier League clubs have already spent more than £2bn during the summer window, according to BBC Sport’s latest transfer-market assessment.
And the spending shows little sign of slowing down.
Liverpool, for example, are closing in on a deal for PSG winger Bradley Barcola that could rise to around £120m, which would immediately put him near the top of this list if completed.
With the transfer deadline still approaching, the current top 10 may therefore look very different before the window finally shuts.
For now, though, Rogers narrowly leads Anderson at the summit, while £819m has already been committed to just 10 Premier League arrivals.
