Rashford returns to Man Utd squad for Hull opener

Marcus Rashford has returned to the Manchester United matchday squad for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Hull City, with Michael Carrick naming the England forward among his substitutes.

Rashford is back at Old Trafford after spending the previous 18 months on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona. Barcelona opted against making his move permanent, leaving his future at United uncertain heading into the new season.

The 2026 World Cup did little to settle that situation, with reported interest in the forward from clubs in England and overseas. Carrick has nevertheless included Rashford in his plans for the opening fixture of the campaign.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans are both handed their competitive United debuts, while Bryan Mbeumo starts in attack. Benjamin Sesko is among the substitutes after recovering from injury.

There is also a first Premier League start for young defender Ayden Heaven, who partners Harry Maguire at centre-back.
