Ronaldo Wins First Saudi Title as Al Nassr Clinch League

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally secured his first Saudi Pro League title after scoring twice in Al Nassr’s decisive 4-1 victory over Damac on Thursday night.

The comprehensive win at the King Saud University Stadium ensured Al Nassr finished two points ahead of fierce rivals Al Hilal to clinch the crown on the final matchday of the season.

This marks the club’s 11th league title in their history, but their very first since the Portuguese icon arrived in Riyadh. The triumph brings immense relief to the squad, who had missed an initial opportunity to wrap up the championship last week following a costly stoppage-time draw with Al Hilal.

The pressure had intensified further over the weekend when Al Nassr suffered a shock home defeat to Japanese side Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two final. However, Jorge Jesus’ side rose to the occasion on Thursday.

Former Liverpool winger Sadio Mané opened the scoring late in the first half. Kingsley Coman then doubled the advantage immediately after the interval before Ronaldo took centre stage to seal the result.

Ronaldo’s second-half double took his domestic tally to 28 league goals for the campaign. The 41-year-old forward has now remarkably scored over 100 goals for Al Nassr across his three seasons in Saudi Arabia.

Visibly emotional, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was substituted to a rapturous standing ovation from the home crowd with three minutes remaining on the clock.

With this achievement, Ronaldo has now won top-flight league titles in five different countries: Portugal, England, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. Prior to Thursday, his only silverware with the club was the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023, which is not an official FIFA-sanctioned tournament.

This long-awaited domestic success provides the perfect momentum for the veteran forward, who is now set to lead Portugal at the 2026 World Cup this summer in his historic sixth appearance at the tournament.
