Cristiano Ronaldo will soon be playing under a fourth boss at Al Nassr after they sacked Luis Castro.
The Portuguese boss has been in charge of the Saudi Arabian side since the summer of 2023 when he replaced Rudi Garcia.
Castro guided Al Nassr to second place in the Saudi Pro League last term, losing out on the title to Al Hilal.
This is despite club talisman Ronaldo scoring 35 goals during the season to be the league’s top scorer.
The hope was that Castro could close in on the Saudi title this term, however the club have made a poor start to the campaign.
In three matches this term, Al Nassr have won just one match so far, drawing their other two which included a 1-1 draw with Al-Ahli on Friday.
After picking up two draws from their opening three Saudi Pro League games this season, Al-Nassr have decided to terminate the contract of manager Castro. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, former AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is their ‘main candidate’ to succeed the Portuguese after talks over a proposed move to Al-Ittihad collapsed.
Pioli will sign the termination of the contract at AC Milan today and then private flight to Riyadh with his agents.
He’s the new manager to replace Castro. Here we go. Milan decided to move on from Pioli at the end of a trophyless season in 2023/24. Paulo Fonseca took his place in the dugout, leaving Pioli out of work. While a move to Al-Ittihad failed to come to fruition, he could manage all-time great Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. They want to dethrone Al-Hilal as league champions, so an upturn in form is essential to keep alive their silverware ambitions.
