Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has announced his squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie against Italy, featuring a recall for Mainz midfielder Nadiem Amiri and a first-time call-up for Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck.
Amiri, 30, returns to the national team setup after an absence of nearly five years. His last appearance for Germany was in November 2020 against Czechia. His resurgence at Mainz, where he has been a key figure in their push for Champions League qualification with six goals and three assists, has earned him a recall.
Also returning to the squad are Leon Goretzka, who was last included in November 2023, and Karim Adeyemi, who has most recently been playing for Germany’s under-21s after being part of 2022 World Cup squad.
Yann Aurel Bisseck, a 24-year-old former Köln academy graduate, receives his first senior call-up. The defender has established himself as a regular starter for Inter Milan this season.
Germany will face Italy away at the San Siro in Milan on March 20th, followed by the second leg in Dortmund on March 23rd. The winner of the tie will host the Nations League finals in the summer.
The full Germany squad is as follows:
-
Goalkeepers: Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim), Alexander Nübel (Stuttgart), Stefan Ortega (Manchester City)
-
Defenders: Yann Aurel Bisseck (Inter Milan), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Robin Koch (Eintracht Frankfurt), Maximilian Mittelstädt (Stuttgart), David Raum (RB Leipzig), Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid), Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund), Jonathan Tah (Bayer1 Leverkusen)

Nagelsmann’s squad selection reflects a blend of experience and emerging talent, as Germany aim to progress in the Nations League and continue their preparations for future tournaments.
