Atlético Madrid continued their strong run of form with a convincing 3–0 victory over Girona at Estadi Montilivi, extending their winning streak to four matches in all competitions.
The visitors made an early breakthrough in the 13th minute, when captain Koke unleashed a stunning long-range strike from 25 yards to open the scoring. Girona responded with brief attacking intent, but goalkeeper Jan Oblak denied the hosts from their best early chance.
Atlético doubled their lead in the 38th minute, as Conor Gallagher finished clinically to put Diego Simeone’s side firmly in control before halftime. Girona struggled to impose themselves as Atlético dominated midfield battles.
Any lingering hope for the hosts was extinguished in stoppage time when Antoine Griezmann added a third, finishing off a well-worked move to complete a comprehensive win.
The result keeps Atlético Madrid firmly in the top-four race, while Girona remain entrenched in the relegation zone after another frustrating performance.
