Barcelona Maintain La Liga Lead with Comfortable Win at Villarreal

Barcelona extended their lead at the top of La Liga to four points with a 2–0 victory over Villarreal, recording their eighth consecutive league win.

The visitors took the lead early, with Raphinha converting a penalty in the 12th minute after being fouled by Santi Comesana. Villarreal threatened a response through Nicolas Pépé and Ayoze Pérez, but failed to capitalize on their early chances.

The match swung further in Barcelona’s favor just before halftime when Renato Veiga was shown a red card, leaving Villarreal a man down. Barcelona controlled possession after the break and made their advantage count in the 63rd minute.

Teenage winger Lamine Yamal doubled the lead with a composed finish following an assist from Frenkie de Jong, effectively sealing the result. Villarreal were unable to mount a comeback, ending their six-game winning streak.

The win keeps Barcelona top with 46 points from 18 matches, while Villarreal remain in the top four despite the setback.
