Saturday’s La Liga match between Barcelona and Osasuna at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium was postponed shortly before kickoff due to the death of Barcelona’s first-team doctor, Carles Miñarro Garcia.
Both teams had announced their lineups, and the players had completed their warm-up routines when Barcelona announced the postponement via the stadium’s public address system.
La Liga confirmed that a new date for the fixture will be determined by its competition committee in the coming days.
FC Barcelona issued a statement expressing their condolences: “FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date. The FC Barcelona Board of Directors and all staff extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Barcelona currently lead La Liga with 57 points, one point ahead of Atletico Madrid and three points ahead of Real Madrid (54 points). The postponement disrupts the title race, with the rescheduling of the match potentially impacting the standings.
