Relegation-threatened Augsburg stunned Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in the first match after the international break on Friday.
Augsburg moved out of the relegation play-off position with a clinical 2-1 win against the dominating visitors.
In an open game in the first half, Mads Pedersen and Andre Hahn scored in 23 and 34 minutes to put the hosts in front before routine scorer Robert Lewandowski reduced the deficit in the 38th minute.
The shock result brought an end to Bayern’s four-game winning run in the league.
“It was not an undeserved win for Augsburg,” Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said. “I am disappointed and, for the first time as Bayern coach, really frustrated.
“We did not use the large spaces we had in the first half. We made mistakes with possession. We had a numerical advantage in midfield but did not use it. We did not go over the wings when we also could.”
The Bavarian side missed three players, including Joshua Kimmic, due to Covid 19, while Thomas Muller made his 600th appearance.

- Hahn’s first goal of the season was his third career goal against Bayern.
