Indian Super League giants Kerala Blasters FC have once again made headlines, thanks to the unwavering support of their passionate fanbase. In a unique polling contest organized by German football enthusiast FIAGO, Kerala Blasters fans came out on top against German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, showcasing their global presence.
In the final of the ‘Fiago Fans Cup,’ supporters of both clubs were given a limited time to cast their votes. Blasters FC secured a narrow victory with 50.3% of the votes, edging past Dortmund’s 49.7%. Despite Dortmund’s official social media account appealing to fans to back their team, the South Indian club claimed the win.
Kerala Blasters responded with a heartfelt video on social media, expressing gratitude to their fans and highlighting the importance of their support.
On the pitch, Borussia Dortmund will face FC St. Pauli on 19 October in the Bundesliga, followed by a UEFA Champions League clash with Real Madrid on 23 October. Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters are set to meet Mohammedan Sporting on 20 October in their next ISL fixture, currently standing seventh in the league with one win from four games.
Founded in 2014, Kerala Blasters, led by Swedish coach Mikael Stahre, have been ISL runners-up three times and continue to be one of the most supported football clubs in India.
