For the last two months, Manchester United have followed Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong and Juventus’s Adrien Rabiot to fix their midfield issues. However, they ended up completing the transfer of Casemiro’s transfer from Real Madrid for a fee of €60m fixed with €10m add-ons. The five times Champions League winner has been tempted by the lucrative offer proposed by the Red Devils in terms of salary compared to at least what he’s earning currently at Real Madrid.
According to reports from Marca, El Chiringuito and Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian discussed with Coach Ancelloti before proceeding with his decision. It seems the player has convinced Ancelloti by expressing his intentions and the club board members. In the press conference before Real Madrid’s game Vs Celta, Ancelloti said, “He wants to try a new challenge, a new opportunity. The club and I understand it. Casemiro with what he’s done at this club, and with the person he is, we have to respect this desire he has”.
Manchester United wanted Casemiro before the game vs Liverpool on Monday. However, this looks impossible for him to play the game even though the deal has been completed by Friday, including the paper works between clubs and the player. Further, the medical and visa approval will take time, which makes it a bit critical for him to join the team. But, it seems he will be present at Old Trafford. Next, United looks forward to sealing the deal for Antony from Ajax. United will have a couple of busy days before the transfer window closes.
As United completes Casemiro’s transfer, a look into what Real gets from the deal is also put into question.
Three Reasons Why Casemiro’s Departure is a Win-Win Situation for Los Blancos?
Casemiro’s transfer to Manchester United is almost done deal, and this deal benefits all the parties that is the destination club, the current club and the player. Through this deal Manchester United gets their target man, Real Madrid gets enough money for a player of age 30 and the player gets a significant salary. Also, the player has already won everything that is there in club football and he has nothing to lose, instead he can be a tad more competitive by playing a more competitive league like Premier League. Apart from that, here is three reasons how this deal could benefit Real Madrid.
1. More playing time to the young midfielders:
This transfer deal opens up more room for Tchouameni (22 yrs old), Camavinga (19 yrs old) and Dani Ceballos (25 yrs old), to grow with more playing time. They can’t replace Casemiro just like that; however, they can still learn and improve playing along side Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. Among all three, Tchouameni has the most advantage considering his physicality and skill sets; he just need to elevate his level. Ancelloti can try out playing him in a single pivot midfield combining with Kroos and Modric. If that doesn’t work out, he can go for a double pivot system.
2. Use of Alaba’s versatility:
No doubt, David Alaba has been excelled himself playing in various defensive positions, particularly that Left Back and Centre Back positions, since the Bayern’s days. Occasionally, he has also been deployed at the CDM position for Bayern and let’s not forget he plays as forward and midfield left winger for his national team. So there is also an option in Alaba taking on Casemiro’s role. At Real Madrid he has played the entire season as CB and recently, they signed Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea. This could be another way that Rudiger replaces Alaba at CB and Alaba moves to midfield.
3. Thinking of future midfield trio for Real Madrid:
The legendary trio of Kroos-Casemiro-Modric has done enough for Los Blancos and it is true that they are aging and retiring soon as well. Therefore, replacing that trio would be some task, which has to start at some point anyways; so why not this season while Kroos and Modric still remain at the club and can guide those young midfielders. Real Madrid has always that vision for future driven by their heritage and legacy. They should take advantage of this small transition.
