End of a Long Wait

Barcelona, October 24, 2024 – Barcelona secured a resounding 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League group-stage encounter at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, and it  was end of long wait of culers. Raphinha was the standout performer, netting a hat-trick as the Catalan giants dominated their German counterparts.

The match began explosively, with Barcelona taking the lead just one minute into the game. Raphinha latched onto a pass from Fermin, calmly rounding Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to slot the ball into the net. Bayern responded swiftly, with Harry Kane equalizing in the 18th minute, courtesy of a precise cross from Serge Gnabry.

Barcelona regained the lead in the 37th minute when Robert Lewandowski, playing against his former club, capitalized on a defensive error to score. Just before halftime, Raphinha doubled Barcelona’s advantage, curling a superb shot past Neuer to make it 3-1.

The second half saw Bayern struggle to break down Barcelona’s defense, and Raphinha completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute, finishing a swift counter-attack. Despite Bayern’s efforts, Barcelona controlled the game and cruised to a well-deserved victory.

Barcelona now sits ninth in the Champions League standings with six points, while Bayern’s consecutive defeats leave them 23rd with three points. It was a Long Wait to Barcelona to beat the German giants.
