Real Madrid needed extra time to overcome a resilient Celta Vigo side and secure their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals. After a dramatic 2-2 draw in regulation time, 18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick emerged as the hero, scoring twice in extra time to seal a 4-2 victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Real Madrid appeared to be cruising to victory after goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior gave them a comfortable lead. However, Celta Vigo staged a late comeback, with Jonathan Bamba pulling one back before Marcos Alonso converted a stoppage-time penalty to force extra time.
In the additional period, Endrick, who came on as a substitute, made a decisive impact. He scored twice, including a clever backheeled finish, to restore Real Madrid’s lead. Federico Valverde then added a fourth goal to secure a hard-fought victory.
