Manchester City staged a thrilling second-half comeback to defeat Manchester United 3-1, closing the gap on leaders Liverpool to just one point in a gripping Premier League title race.
United’s resolute defence and counterattacking prowess stunned City early on as Marcus Rashford unleashed a spectacular 25-yard strike, beating Ederson and giving the visitors the lead.
City retaliated, with Phil Foden twice testing André Onana with close-range efforts. United’s counterattack remained a threat, Rashford continuing to trouble the home side.
An extraordinary miss by Erling Haaland just before halftime left fans stunned as he headed over from point-blank range.
However, the tide turned in the 56th minute when Foden levelled the score with a superb left-footed strike, cutting past Victor Lindelof and finding the net.
City’s dominance intensified, and in the 80th minute, Foden struck again. A clever exchange with Julián Álvarez allowed him to slot home a low shot, giving City the lead.
Haaland redeemed his earlier miss with a late goal, capitalizing on a United error to seal the 3-1 victory.
This result leaves United in sixth place but now 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. City, meanwhile, prepare for a monumental showdown against Liverpool at Anfield, a clash that could have major title implications.
