Despite dominating possession for the remainder of the match, Dortmund were unable to find a way past a resolute Frankfurt defense. Serhou Guirassy missed a golden opportunity from close range and had two penalty appeals waved away, while Jamie Gittens also struggled to make an impact.
Frankfurt sealed the victory late on when Oscar Højlund capitalized on a defensive error to score their second goal.
Dortmund’s Struggles and Frankfurt’s Rise
This defeat marks Dortmund’s seventh loss of the season and their third in a row. They are now 10th in the Bundesliga table, a disappointing position for a club with aspirations of challenging for the title. Şahin will be under increasing pressure to turn things around, with his team’s performances falling well short of expectations.
Frankfurt, on the other hand, continue their impressive form under manager Dino Toppmöller. They climb to third in the table with this victory, demonstrating their strength and resilience even without their star striker. Their defensive solidity was a key factor in their win, with Dortmund unable to break them down despite enjoying the majority of possession.
