Pep Guardiola has called on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to clarify his recent remarks about having “inside information” on Manchester City. Arteta, when asked about City’s complaints regarding Arsenal’s tactics during their 2-2 draw at the Etihad, hinted that he had knowledge of City’s methods from his time as Guardiola ’s assistant between 2016 and 2019.
“I was there for four years. I have all the information, believe me,” Arteta said, suggesting City may use similar tactics. In response, Guardiola urged his former assistant to be more specific, asking, “What exactly does he mean? If he knows something, he should be more clear about it.”
The rivalry between City and Arsenal has intensified in recent years, with both teams battling for the Premier League title. However, Arteta insisted that the on-field competition wouldn’t affect his personal relationship with Guardiola.
The match at the Etihad was a fiery affair, with tensions flaring between players, including an incident where Erling Haaland threw the ball at Gabriel following John Stones’ stoppage-time equalizer. Despite the heated exchanges, Guardiola admitted that such emotions are part of the game, saying, “Sometimes, football becomes a war, and we have to be ready for it.”
