Man City fight back to win Premier League in incredible fashion

Manchester City mounted a spectacular late comeback with three goals in five minutes to edge Aston Villa and win the Premier League on a highly dramatic final day of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s squad needed a win to clinch their fourth title in five years, but Villa’s goals from Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho put them in command with a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

It appeared that Villa manager Steven Gerrard would assist his previous club, Liverpool, win the championship, but City took control of the game in a frenetic environment.

Ilkay Gundogan, replacing Bernardo Silva, gave City hope with a header at the far post in the 76th minute, and Etihad Stadium was a wall of noise when Rodri blasted a low finish past Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen two minutes later.

The title-winning comeback was completed with nine minutes remaining as Gundogan again arrived at the far post to give City the lead, the pivotal contribution on this nerve-racking final day.

City needed those three points as Liverpool defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers, with City manager Guardiola overtaken with emotion and crying at the final whistle.
