Mbappé Returns for France’s Nations League squad against Croatia

Kylian Mbappé has been recalled to the France squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie against Croatia, while Paris Saint-Germain teenager Désiré Doué receives his first senior call-up.

Mbappé was omitted from Deschamps’ previous two squads for the Nations League group stage matches in October and November. However, his recent form for Real Madrid, where he has scored 28 goals in all competitions this season, has earned him a return.

19-year-old Désiré Doué’s inclusion represents a significant step in his young career. The attacking midfielder has impressed since becoming a regular starter for PSG in mid-December, contributing to 17 goals (either scoring or assisting) in 23 appearances.

France will face Croatia away in Split in the first leg on March 20th, with the return leg at the Stade de France on March 23rd. The winner will advance to the final four, which will be held in either Italy or Germany in June.

The complete France squad is as follows:

  • Goalkeepers: Lucas Chevalier (Lille), Mike Maignan (AC Milan), Brice Samba (Lens)

  • Defenders: Jonathan Clauss (Marseille), Lucas Digne (Aston Villa), Theo Hernandez (AC Milan), Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool), Jules Kounde (Barcelona), Benjamin Pavard (Inter Milan), William Saliba (Arsenal), Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich)1

  • Midfielders: Eduardo Camavinga2 (Real Madrid), Matteo Guendouzi (Lazio), Manu Kone (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Adrien Rabiot (Juventus), Aurelien Tchouameni (Real Madrid), Warren Zaire-Emery (PSG)

  • Forwards: Bradley Barcola (PSG), Ousmane Dembele (PSG), Desire Doue (PSG), Randal Kolo Muani (PSG), Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid), Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan)

The squad selection highlights Deschamps’ willingness to integrate young talent alongside established stars as France aim to progress in the Nations League. Mbappé’s return provides a significant boost to the team’s attacking options.
