Messi scores twice in 100th international win

Lionel Messi celebrated his 100th international victory by scoring two goals as Argentina defeated Jamaica easily in a friendly.

The victory also increased Argentina’s unbeaten streak to 35, two shy of Italy’s record of 37.

Lautaro Martinez assisted Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez in putting Lionel Scaloni’s team ahead.

Messi, 35, entered the game after 56 minutes and scored with a shot and a free-kick.

After scoring twice in a victory against Honduras, the Paris St. Germain forward’s brace gave him 90 goals in a record-setting 164 national team appearances.

Argentina’s final game prior to the World Cup occurred in New Jersey.

The two-time World Cup champions, who are among the favourites for this year’s tournament, open their campaign in Qatar against Saudi Arabia on 22 November.
