Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool Future in Doubt as Saudi Interest Grows

Tension, Transfer Talk, and a Turning Point for the Anfield Legend

Mohamed Salah has been one of Liverpool’s greatest players of the modern era, but his relationship with the club has hit its most fragile moment yet. The 33-year-old forward has been benched for three straight matches, and the frustration finally spilled over after the game against Leeds.

Speaking to reporters, Salah said he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” and admitted he was “very, very disappointed” with manager Arne Slot for leaving him out repeatedly. For a player who has delivered 200+ goals and countless decisive moments, such open criticism shows how deep the tension has become.

Former defender Jamie Carragher has already questioned Salah’s outburst, while Slot himself added to the uncertainty by saying he “does not know” if Salah will play for Liverpool again. The Dutchman kept Salah out of the Champions League match against Inter too, increasing the sense that something major is brewing.

Saudi Pro League Ready to Make Their Move

While Liverpool deal with internal issues, clubs in Saudi Arabia are watching closely. At the World Football Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Pro League CEO Omar Mugharbel confirmed that Salah is a major target.
He stated, “Mohamed Salah is welcome in the Saudi League… for sure Salah is one of the targets.”

Big clubs like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad have already declared interest, and a senior Saudi figure even claimed, “We are absolutely convinced Mo Salah will come to Saudi, no doubts at all.”

With stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mané, and N’Golo Kanté already in the league, bringing Salah would be another huge statement. At 33, he’d also be one of the league’s biggest global icons.

A Crucial Weekend for the Egyptian King

Liverpool face Brighton next, and all eyes will be on Slot’s team sheet. This will be Salah’s last club game before he joins Egypt for the AFCON 2026 squad in Morocco. If he starts, it might calm the tension. But if he is benched again, the message will be loud and clear: the relationship between Salah and Liverpool is close to breaking.

For now, the story remains open. The fans want clarity. Salah wants respect. Liverpool want stability. And Saudi Arabia is waiting with open arms. The next few weeks could shape the final chapter of Salah’s legendary Anfield journey.
