Odisha FC Surge Towards ISL Playoffs

Odisha FC boosted their playoff hopes with a convincing 3-1 win over Hyderabad FC at the Kalinga Stadium. The Juggernauts, who trailed at half-time, produced a stunning second-half comeback to secure a crucial victory that moves them within two points of the playoff places.

Hyderabad FC took the lead in the 30th minute through Stefan Šapić, who tapped in from close range after a well-worked set-piece routine. The visitors looked comfortable for much of the first half, frustrating Odisha and limiting their attacking opportunities.

Odisha’s Second-Half Comeback

However, Odisha FC emerged from the break with renewed purpose and quickly turned the game around. Mourtada Fall equalized with a powerful header from a corner in the 47th minute, before Hugo Boumous gave them the lead just two minutes later with a clinical finish.

Rahim Ali then sealed the victory for Odisha in the 70th minute, scoring from a tight angle after a swift counter-attack.

Dominant Odisha

Odisha FC’s second-half performance was a testament to their attacking quality and their determination to secure a vital win. They dominated possession and created numerous chances, with their three goals a fair reflection of their superiority.

Hyderabad FC’s Struggles

Hyderabad FC, on the other hand, struggled to contain Odisha’s attacking threat in the second half. Their defense looked vulnerable, and they were unable to create any meaningful opportunities to get back into the match.

Playoff Implications

This victory moves Odisha FC up to seventh place in the ISL table with 29 points from 20 matches. They are now just two points behind sixth-placed Mumbai City FC, with a game in hand.

Hyderabad FC, meanwhile, remain in 11th place with 16 points from 20 matches. Their defeat leaves them with a mountain to climb if they are to secure a playoff spot.
