Real Madrid Keen on Alexander-Arnold Despite Initial Rejection

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a second offer for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold after their initial approach was rebuffed. The Spanish giants are keen to bolster their defense following a season-ending injury to Dani Carvajal and view the England international as an ideal solution.

Real Madrid remain confident in their pursuit of Alexander-Arnold, believing they hold a strong negotiating position. With the right-back’s contract expiring in the summer, they are aware that he could sign a pre-contract agreement with them if a January move fails to materialize. This leverage allows them to adopt a more cautious approach in terms of their financial offer.

Despite Real Madrid’s willingness to pay €20-25 million, Liverpool have stood firm, rejecting their initial bid. The Reds are determined to keep hold of their vice-captain, who is a key figure in their title challenge and Champions League campaign. They remain hopeful that they can persuade Alexander-Arnold to sign a contract extension.

Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly pushing for the deal, as Lucas Vazquez is currently his only natural right-back option. However, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid will succeed in their pursuit this month. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has even suggested that Real Madrid’s interest may be a tactic to help Alexander-Arnold leave on better terms in the summer.

While a January move appears improbable, Real Madrid’s confidence suggests they have received some assurances, perhaps from the player’s camp. The saga is likely to continue, with the possibility of a summer transfer looming large if Liverpool cannot convince Alexander-Arnold to commit his future to Anfield.
