Real Madrid have closed their doors for the summer transfer window, but that doesn’t mean their sporting department is resting on their laurels. The club is already planning for a busy 2025 summer transfer window, with Alphonso Davies and a new right-back on their radar.
However, the most pressing need for Los Blancos is a successor to Luka Modric, who is expected to retire at the end of the season. Florian Wirtz has emerged as the ideal candidate to fill the void left by the Croatian maestro.
While Wirtz won’t be a direct replacement for Modric, Real Madrid believes he possesses the necessary qualities to thrive in a deeper role. The German playmaker’s creativity, vision, and technical ability make him a highly sought-after talent.
However, signing Wirtz won’t be easy. Bayer Leverkusen has slapped a hefty €120 million price tag on the young star, and Bayern Munich is also keen on his services. Real Madrid will have to fend off competition from their rivals to secure his signature.
If Real Madrid can successfully negotiate a deal with Leverkusen and convince Wirtz to join, it would be a major coup for the club. The German playmaker has the potential to become a key figure in Real Madrid’s midfield for years to come.
