Ronaldo: Letting Messi leave wouldn’t solve anything for Barcelona

Ronaldo Nazario thinks that letting Lionel Messi leave will not serve any good for Barcelona.

The six-time Ballon d’Ore winner is sceptical about his future at the Camp Nou as he is frustrated with the club’s recent off-field antics and on-field struggles, but the Brazilian thinks the Catalans should do all they can to keep him.

“It’s very unlikely that he’ll be able to leave Barcelona at the moment, especially when there’s a crisis of results,” Ronaldo said at a webinar hosted by Santander.

“Messi is a reference for the team and, if I were Barcelona, I wouldn’t let him leave in any situation.

“He has a great and strong relationship with the club and I don’t think he’ll stop being in love with the team.”

The Brazilian legend also praised Barca’s under pressure striker Luis Saurez and believes that the 8-2 humbling by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter finals has exaggerated the current situation at the club.

“Luis Suarez is still one of the best strikers,” he said, “alongside Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema, whom I love.”
