A pre-match interaction between Cristiano Ronaldo and a lookalike fan during Al Nassr’s game against Al Shabab on Friday has generated significant discussion on social media. Video footage captured Ronaldo spotting the fan, who was wearing a Portugal No. 7 shirt, in the stands during the warm-up at Al Awwal Park.
In the video, which has circulated widely online, Ronaldo is seen saying to the fan, “Bro, you don’t look like me. You don’t look like me. You’re very ugly.” The fan appeared unfazed, responding, “You’re the best,” to which Ronaldo replied with a thumbs-up and a smile.
The exchange, while seemingly lighthearted, sparked mixed reactions online. Some social media users criticized Ronaldo’s comments as unnecessarily harsh, particularly given the fan’s apparent admiration. One user wrote, “Imagine glazing a man so hard that you fly to Saudi Arabia, buy a front row seat, do your hair like him, wear his jersey, and talk to him during his warmups only for him to call you ugly to the entire world.” Others defended Ronaldo, suggesting the comments were meant in jest or were perhaps lost in translation, given that English is not his first language. One user commented, “Ronaldo keeping it real I guess when you’re the GOAT, even the jokes are on another level! At least the fan got a story to tell for life!”
The match itself ended in a 2-2 draw. Ronaldo scored Al Nassr’s second goal, putting them 2-1 ahead in the first half, but Mohammed Al Shwirekh equalized for Al Shabab in the second half. Al Nassr are currently fourth in the Saudi Pro League table. Ronaldo, now in his 40s, has scored 26 goals in 31 games for Al Nassr this season. The incident highlights the intense scrutiny and global attention surrounding Ronaldo, even in seemingly minor interactions.
