Saudi Move Will Bring Out the Best in João Félix, Says Jorge Jesus

Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus has spoken candidly about the potential of his new signing, João Félix, suggesting that the Portuguese forward’s move to Saudi Arabia will provide a unique environment for him to focus on football and get his career back on track.

Speaking on the partnership between Félix and Cristiano Ronaldo, Jesus noted that the two are “getting closer and closer” and playing well off each other. He also admitted that Félix is currently at a “much lower level” than his talent demands, but believes the lack of distractions in Saudi Arabia will be key to his improvement.

“Saudi Arabia is a country where there’s no alcohol… no nightlife… there are no other distractions,” Jorge Jesus stated. “João Félix comes to Saudi Arabia, he only has one option: to play and rest and be with friends and family. There’s no other option.”

João Félix, who is 25, recently completed a permanent move to Al-Nassr from Chelsea after a series of loan spells where he failed to make a significant impact. Jesus revealed he had tried to sign Félix last year while at Al-Hilal, but the player opted for Chelsea.

The coach believes the environment in Riyadh, coupled with the opportunity to play alongside Ronaldo, will benefit both Félix and the Portuguese national team. Ronaldo, for his part, has denied rumors that he was instrumental in convincing Félix to join the club.

João Félix ‘s immediate challenge is to raise his fitness and performance levels to secure a starting spot in the star-studded Al-Nassr squad, which is actively strengthening its roster to compete for domestic titles and in continental competitions.
