Manchester United’s Europa League run ended in semifinal as clinical Sevilla came from behind to beat them 2-1 in Cologne.
Luuk de Jong fired the Spanish side into another Europa League final shattering the English club’s hopes of a silverware.
Winners of this competition in 2014, 2015 and 2016, Sevilla took another stride towards glory after holding on to overcome heavy pressure from United in this semi-final.
United went ahead with yet another Bruno Fernandes penalty, but former Liverpool player Suso found an equalizer for Sevilla.
And De Jong connected sweetly with a cross swung over by former Manchester City man Jesus Navas in the 78th minute to send Julen Lopetegui’s side through to Friday’s showpiece.
Sevilla will meet in Friday’s final in Cologne either Inter Milan or Shakhtar Donetsk, who play in Dusseldorf on Monday night.
