The inaugural edition of the highly anticipated Super League Kerala (SLK) kicked off with an electrifying match between Forca Kochi FC and Malappuram FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The Super League Trophy was also revealed in the inaugural function.TheSuper League Kerala 2024 began on September 7 and will run till November 10.The first edition of Super League Kerala received huge support from football fans, as the number of viewers in the stadiums was comparatively high. The Super League Kerala 2024 will see six teams Calicut FC, Kannur Warriors FC, Kochi Forca FC, Malappuram FC, Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC, and Thrissur Magic FC compete in a home-and-away format. The top four teams will advance to the knockout stage.
Organised by the Kerala Football Association, Scoreline Sports and the Unifed Football Sports Development, the Super League Kerala 2024 is the inaugural edition of a men’s franchise football league in the state of Kerala.
Calicut FC, Kannur Warriors FC, Kochi Forca FC, Malappuram FC, Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC and Thrissur Magic FC are the six teams participating in the Super League Kerala 2024.
As per the Super League Kerala 2024 format, the football league will be staged in two phases – league stage and knockouts.
The league stage matches will be held in a home-and-away format. The top four teams will advance to the knockout stage. The knockouts will comprise semi-finals and the final. The Super League Kerala 2024 final will be played on November 10.
The Super League Kerala 2024 matches will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Malappuram District Sports Complex Stadium in Manjeri, Kozhikode’s EMS Corporation Stadium and Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
As per the regulations, each team can register a maximum of six foreign players but can field only four at a time. Every franchise will also feature other talented and young players from both Kerala and other states.
As many as 100 players are expected to participate in the inaugural Super League Kerala.The league aims to provide a platform for the local players to showcase their talents and play and learn alongside some of the overseas players.The Super League Kerala 2024 will be telecast live on Star Sports First TV channel in India. Live streaming of the Super League Kerala 2024 will be available on the Disney+ Hotstar app and website.
