“This Team is Hopeless,” Say Manchester United Fans

On Saturday, August 3, Manchester United concluded their United States tour with a disappointing defeat to Liverpool. The match, held at Williams-Brice Stadium, saw the Red Devils suffer a 3-0 loss against their Merseyside rivals. Fabio Carvalho opened the scoring with a left-footed goal in the 10th minute, followed by Curtis Jones doubling the lead in the 36th minute. Konstantinos Tsimikas added the third goal in the 61st minute, sealing Liverpool’s comprehensive victory. Many Manchester united fans appeared on several platforms by saying that the team is hopeless after the defeat.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s defensive performance. “There were mixed feelings, I would say. I think I have seen positive bits, but the way we concede goals, we are, of course, not happy with it. Of course, Liverpool are a very good side. They are very aggressive, and they have lots of goalscoring abilities, so they did very well. But the way we conceded, we are not happy with it,” Ten Hag remarked.

Despite the loss, Ten Hag praised the support of the fans in Columbia. “I am really pleased with the support. It was enjoyable to play here. The ambience, the fans, the togetherness, it made a brilliant atmosphere, and it was really enjoyable to play in this atmosphere,” he added.

In their last pre-season friendly, Manchester United displayed a mixed performance, holding 47% possession, registering 18 shots, and completing 380 passes with an 84% accuracy rate. These statistics reflect the team’s efforts to control the game, though they ultimately fell short against a strong Liverpool side.

Looking ahead, Manchester United will face Manchester City in the FA Community Shield clash at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, August 10. This match will be a significant test for Ten Hag’s squad as they prepare for the upcoming season. The encounter with their city rivals offers a chance for Manchester United to gauge their progress and address the defensive issues highlighted in their recent defeat.

The Red Devils will be keen to bounce back and secure a positive result in the Community Shield, setting the tone for their Premier League campaign. Fans will be hoping to see an improved performance and a strong start to the new season.
