Arsenal edge Brighton to go top

Arsenal climbed back to the top of the Premier League, at least temporarily surpassing Liverpool, with a hard-fought win against Brighton.

Their position at the summit was secured, for a few hours until Liverpool’s game against Manchester United, by goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

The Gunners were in control for the first half, yet they couldn’t capitalize on their dominance until Jesus broke the deadlock following a corner.

The Emirates Stadium heaved a sigh of relief when Havertz later confirmed the victory, sparking exuberant celebrations among the home fans.

Brighton, who had their sights set on a third consecutive league win at the Emirates, struggled to make an impact, managing only a single shot on target.

The visitors stepped up their offensive efforts in the last 30 minutes, but Arsenal’s win seemed inevitable.

The stats underscored Arsenal’s superiority, with a total of 25 shots during the game. They were close to adding a third goal through substitute Emile Smith Rowe, underlining their relentless attack.
