Premier League Final Day: Arsenal Crowned, West Ham Relegated & Guardiola Departs

The 2025-26 Premier League season concluded with intense drama. A day of joy, distress, and emotional farewells gripped the nation. West Ham United went down. Pep Guardiola bowed out in tears. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Champagne finally popped.

Arsenal End 22-Year Wait

However, their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur dashed those lingering hopes. Spurs defeated Everton 1-0 at a tense Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Joao Palhinha scored the vital goal in the 43rd minute.

Consequently, Tottenham secured their top-flight status. West Ham suffer relegation, ending a 14-year run in the Premier League. They join Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.

European Places Resolved

The European qualification picture is now completely settled. Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Aston Villa secure Champions League football. Liverpool also claim a Champions League spot after finishing fifth.

Bournemouth will play in the Europa League next season. They finished sixth with an impressive 57 points. Sunderland join them in the Europa League by finishing seventh. Furthermore, Brighton claim the Europa Conference League spot in eighth place. Chelsea missed out on European competition entirely, finishing in tenth.

Emotional Farewells

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola managed his final game. His decade-long tenure delivered six incredible Premier League titles. Aston Villa defeated City 2-1 on his emotional final day. City were formidable frontrunners in the title chase before falling short. Guardiola wept on the touchline during the match. Players formed guards of honour for departing stalwarts Bernardo Silva and John Stones.

Moreover, Mohamed Salah made a tearful exit from Liverpool. The Reds drew 1-1 with Brentford at Anfield. Curtis Jones scored for Liverpool in his final appearance.

Individual brilliance shone through the collective team drama. Erling Haaland won his third Premier League Golden Boot. He scored 27 goals for Manchester City this season. Additionally, Bruno Fernandes set a new single-season assist record. The Manchester United captain recorded a stunning 21 assists. He broke the previous record shared by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
