The 52-year-old takes over a Liverpool side that finished seventh in the WSL last season, a stark contrast to his time at City where he guided them to an FA Cup, a League Cup, and a dramatic second-place finish in the league. Taylor’s track record of winning trophies and developing players is exactly what Liverpool’s leadership is hoping will transform their fortunes and propel them up the table.
In his first statement as head coach, Taylor expressed his ambition for the club, saying, “Our aim is to create a team that supporters can be proud of, which plays good football and which will hopefully bring success along the way.”
The announcement ends Liverpool’s search for a permanent manager since the sacking of Matt Beard in February. With Taylor’s arrival, the club will be looking to make a strong push in the upcoming WSL season, which kicks off in September.
