Villa Secure 3-0 Victory Over BSC Young Boys in UCL Opener

Aston Villa marked their return to the UEFA Champions League in style, defeating BSC Young Boys 3-0 in their opening group stage match.

Youri Tielemans opened the scoring in the 27th minute, converting a well-executed corner routine. This goal was Villa’s first in the competition since 1982, a poignant moment just a day after European Cup winner Gary Shaw’s passing.

Villa extended their lead in the 38th minute when Jacob Ramsey capitalized on a defensive mistake, slotting home from close range. Ollie Watkins had a goal disallowed before halftime, but Villa maintained control.

Despite two disallowed goals, Villa sealed the win late in the game when Amadou Onana fired home in the 86th minute. The 3-0 victory was a perfect start for Unai Emery’s side, who will face Bayern Munich next at Villa Park.

Young Boys, winners of the Swiss Super League last season, struggled to match Villa’s quality despite their early threats. Villa’s defense, led by goalkeeper Emi Martínez, held firm to secure the clean sheet.

Villa’s players wore black armbands in tribute to Shaw, and the team’s performance was a fitting tribute to the club legend as they continue their European journey.
