Brazil made a huge statement of intent as they thrashed Peru to finish top of Group A with a 5-0 victory at Corinthians Arena on Saturday.

Tite’s men recovered from the disappointment of a stalemate against Venezuela on Wednesday in sensational fashion as the hosts took a 3-0 lead in the first half thanks to the goals from Casemiro, Roberto Firmino and Everton.

Dani Alves and Willian completed the route in the second half for the Selecao, while Gabriel Jesus missed a penalty in the stoppage time as the eight-time winners finished on top with seven points.

Venezuela join Brazil to advance

Venezuela followed the suit of Brazil to the knockout stages with a 3-1 win over Bolivia at Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto on Saturday.

Darwin Machis’ brace put the Venezuelans in front before Leonel Justiniano Arauz pulled one back for the Bolivians in the 82nd minute. However, Josef Martinez wrapped up the victory in the 86th minute.

Venezuela finished in second in Group A with five points after Peru (four points) were beaten by Brazil.
