UEFA has confirmed the venues for the 2028 and 2029 Champions League finals, with Munichโs Allianz Arena and Barcelonaโs Camp Nou selected to host European club footballโs biggest match.
The European governing body announced on Tuesday that the Allianz Arena will stage the 2028 final, while the 2029 showpiece will return to Barcelona.
The Munich stadium, home of Bayern Munich, will host its third Champions League final. It previously staged the competitionโs final in 2012, when Chelsea defeated Bayern on penalties, and again in 2025, when Paris Saint-Germain secured their first European title.
The Allianz Arena has a capacity of around 70,000 and is already fully operational, meaning it is ready to host the 2028 final.
Barcelonaโs Camp Nou, meanwhile, is still undergoing a major redevelopment project that began in 2023. The stadium is set to host the Champions League final for the third time after previously staging the 1999 final.
That match remains one of the most memorable finals in Champions League history, with Manchester United scoring twice in stoppage time to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 and complete a dramatic comeback.
Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen welcomed UEFAโs decision, saying the final would provide an opportunity to showcase Munichโs ability to host a major international sporting event.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta also described the decision as a source of immense pride for the club and its supporters. He said UEFAโs selection underlined the ambition of the Camp Nou redevelopment and its importance to the city.
The 2029 final will take place a year before Spain co-hosts the 2030 World Cup with Portugal and Morocco.
The next confirmed Champions League final venue is Madridโs Estadio Metropolitano, which will stage the 2027 final on June 5.
Womenโs Champions League finals also confirmed
UEFA has also announced venues for the Womenโs Champions League finals in 2028 and 2029.
Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon-Decines will host the 2028 final, while Cardiffโs Principality Stadium has been selected for the 2029 edition.
The Welsh stadium previously hosted the menโs Champions League final in 2017, when Real Madrid defeated Juventus.
The Football Association of Wales said hosting the Womenโs Champions League final would help promote the continued development of womenโs and girlsโ football in the country.
