Spain Defeat Switzerland 4-1 in Thrilling Nations League Clash
Spain secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over Switzerland in an action-packed Nations League match in Geneva on Sunday. The win, driven by a blend of youth and experience, showcased the continued rise of young star Lamine Yamal.
Luis de la Fuente once again trusted Barcelona’s teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal, in his starting XI, and the youngster repaid his faith almost immediately. Just four minutes into the game, Yamal brilliantly beat his defender on the right flank and delivered a perfectly chipped cross for Joselu to head home, giving Spain an early 1-0 lead. Yamal’s assist added to his impressive form for both club and country.
The teenager’s impact didn’t stop there. Yamal was involved again as Spain doubled their lead just 13 minutes in. Fabian Ruiz capitalized on Yamal’s play to make it 2-0, putting Spain firmly in control.
However, the game took a dramatic turn when Robin Le Normand was sent off in the 20th minute, forcing coach De la Fuente to make tactical changes. Pedri was substituted, with Dani Vivian coming on to shore up the defense.
Switzerland responded just before half-time, with Zeki Amdouni scoring from a corner to reduce the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break.
Spain made a half-time change, bringing on Ferran Torres for Yamal. Torres quickly made his presence felt, setting up Ruiz for his second goal of the night to extend Spain’s lead to 3-1. The Barcelona forward then rounded off a memorable evening by scoring Spain’s fourth goal with a composed finish, ensuring a comfortable victory for La Roja.
The win highlights the depth and talent within the Spanish squad, as they continue their strong run in the Nations League.
