Barcelona secured their place in the Spanish Super Cup final with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Club in Saudi Arabia. Goals from Gavi and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal were enough to see off a spirited Athletic side at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona made a blistering start to the match, dominating possession and creating several early chances. Their pressure paid off in the 17th minute when Gavi slotted home from Alejandro Balde’s pass to give the Catalan giants the lead.

Yamal then doubled Barcelona’s advantage seven minutes into the second half. The 17-year-old showcased his immense talent, latching onto a chipped pass and driving a powerful shot past Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon.

Athletic Club pushed for a way back into the match, but Inaki Williams’ late effort was ruled out for offside. Barcelona held on to secure a comfortable victory and book their place in Sunday’s final.

Olmo and Victor Cleared to Play

The semi-final came too soon for Barcelona’s summer signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, despite the club receiving provisional permission to register them earlier in the day. The Spanish National Sports Council (CSD) granted a precautionary measure allowing the duo to play after the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga initially rejected Barcelona’s request due to wage cap restrictions.

Olmo and Victor could now feature in Sunday’s final, where Barcelona will face either Real Madrid or Mallorca. The other semi-final takes place on Thursday.

Yamal’s goal further cemented his status as one of the most exciting young talents in world football. The teenager has already established himself as a key player for Barcelona this season, and his performance against Athletic Club highlighted his immense potential.
