On-loan Manchester United winger Antony was sent off in stoppage time as Real Betis secured a 2-1 victory against Getafe in a La Liga match that ended with both teams reduced to 10 men. The win moves Betis up to seventh in the table, boosting their European qualification hopes.

Despite the late red card, Antony played a key role in Betis’ opening goal. His precise pass found Isco, who slotted home to give the visitors the lead. Isco then doubled Betis’ advantage from the penalty spot in the 77th minute.

The match concluded with a flurry of disciplinary action. Antony was shown a straight red card in the sixth minute of stoppage time for a reckless challenge on Getafe’s Juan Iglesias. The Brazilian, who has scored three goals for Betis since joining on loan in January, will now be suspended for the upcoming match against defending champions Real Madrid.

Getafe’s Domingos Duarte also received his marching orders, picking up a second yellow card in the final moments of the game.

The victory for Manuel Pellegrini’s side sees them climb above Mallorca and Real Sociedad into seventh place, level on points with sixth-placed Rayo Vallecano. Getafe, meanwhile, remain in 14th. The match was a crucial one for Betis, as Real Madrid defeated Girona 2-0, which trails leader, Barcelona only by goal difference.
