East Bengal Thrash Measurers Club 7-1 to Open CFL Campaign in Style
East Bengal began their 2025-26 Calcutta Football League (CFL) campaign with a statement of intent, securing a dominant 7-1 victory over Measurers Club at the Naihati Bankimanjali Stadium on Friday.
A brace from last season’s top scorer, Jesin TK, and goals from six different players highlighted a powerful attacking display from the Red and Gold Brigade, who established a 3-0 lead by halftime.
Debutant Manotos Maji opened the scoring for East Bengal in the 23rd minute, converting a precise assist from Vanlalpeka Guite. Sayan Banerjee doubled the lead in the 35th minute with a well-timed lob, before Guite turned from provider to scorer just two minutes later, latching onto a pass from Naseeb Rahman to cap off a fluid team move.
The onslaught continued after the break, with midfielder Tanmay Das adding a fourth goal with a long-range strike in the 48th minute.
Jesin TK, who netted 13 goals in the previous edition of the tournament, quickly rediscovered his scoring form, striking twice in just three minutes. He scored his first in the 63rd minute from an Ajad Saheem cross and completed his brace with a close-range, left-footed finish in the 66th minute.
Andy Zakhari scored a consolation goal for Measurers Club against the run of play in the 69th minute. However, East Bengal had the final say, with Suman Dey adding a seventh goal with another long-range effort in second-half stoppage time.
East Bengal will play their next CFL match against Suruchi Sangha on July 3.
