Enzo Maresca Eyes Liam Delap to Revitalize Chelsea’s Attack

Chelsea is reportedly keen on securing the services of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap during the upcoming January Transfer Window. The 21-year-old forward, who has been in stellar form this season, could be the solution to Chelsea’s recent struggles in front of goal. Delap has expressed interest in joining Stamford Bridge, which could further strengthen the Blues’ attacking lineup.

The England Under-21 international has impressed at Ipswich Town since his £20 million move from Manchester City last summer. Delap has netted eight goals and provided two assists in 19 Premier League appearances, catching the attention of several top clubs, including Chelsea.

Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League with 36 points, Chelsea has shown solid performance this season. However, their recent underwhelming displays have narrowed their point gap over fifth-placed Newcastle United to just one point. Manager Enzo Maresca is reportedly concerned about the team’s goal-scoring decline, with striker Nicolas Jackson managing just one goal in the last six games.

Despite defensive injuries to Benoît Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, Chelsea is looking to bolster their attacking options in January. Delap’s potential arrival could address the team’s offensive woes and improve their chances of maintaining a top-four finish.

Meanwhile, Manchester City retains a buy-back clause for Delap, valued at approximately £30 million, and could consider bringing him back in the summer. Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson believes Delap’s strong form this season has attracted significant interest across the league, increasing the likelihood of a major move.

Chelsea fans will be eagerly watching developments in the coming weeks, as Delap’s addition could prove pivotal to their Premier League campaign.
