Haaland Breaks Premier League Record With Fastest 100 Goals
Erling Haaland has rewritten Premier League history, becoming the quickest player to reach 100 goals after scoring in Manchester City’s dramatic 5–4 victory over Fulham on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old striker hit his milestone in just 111 league appearances, surpassing Alan Shearer’s previous record of 124 games. Haaland’s finish from Jeremy Doku’s low cross ended a rare three-match scoring drought and sparked another prolific night in which he also struck the post twice and provided two assists.
“It’s a proud moment,” Haaland told Match of the Day. “The 100 club is huge. To do it this fast is amazing. I’m happy—and I’m not bad at scoring goals!”
Despite a brief dip in form last year, Haaland has maintained an extraordinary scoring rate since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. His debut season produced a record-breaking 36 goals in 33 starts, and he has already netted 15 times in 14 Premier League games this campaign.
Manager Pep Guardiola praised the Norwegian’s latest achievement: “He was unbelievable. Enjoy it—hopefully he stays hungry to score more for this club.”
Haaland leads the league’s scoring charts, with Brentford forward Igor Thiago trailing on 11. Since arriving in England, Haaland’s strike rate has eclipsed that of every elite goalscorer in the competition’s history, and with his City contract running until 2034, he is widely tipped to challenge Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260 goals.
