Inter Milan’s Serie A Title Hopes Suffer Blow with Defeat at Fiorentina

Inter Milan missed the opportunity to take the lead in Serie A after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina in a rescheduled match. Moise Kean’s double and a goal from Giacomo Raspadori secured the victory for Fiorentina, ending Inter’s 17-game unbeaten run in the league and leaving them three points behind leaders Napoli.

The match, originally scheduled for December 1st but suspended after Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch, saw the hosts dominate the second half to claim a deserved win.

Inter had the better of the early exchanges, with Lautaro Martínez forcing a save from Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea and Carlos Augusto having a goal ruled out for offside. However, Fiorentina created the best chances of the first half, with Kean’s header drawing a superb save from Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Fiorentina took control after the break, with Kean and Dodo both coming close before Raspadori opened the scoring from a corner. Kean then added two more goals, including one from a defensive error by Federico Dimarco, to seal the victory.

Inter’s attempts to get back into the match proved futile, with their only real chance coming from a long-range effort by Dimarco that was comfortably saved by De Gea.

This defeat is a setback for Inter Milan’s title aspirations, leaving them three points behind Napoli with a game in hand. Fiorentina, meanwhile, move up to fourth place, level on points with Lazio.

Inter will have the chance to avenge this defeat when they host Fiorentina at the San Siro on Monday.
