Madueke nets Hat-Trick as Chelsea put six past Wolves
Chelsea clinched their first Premier League victory of the season in an enthralling 6-2 encounter against Wolves at Molineux, fueled by Noni Madueke’s impressive hat-trick.
The match started at a blistering pace, with Chelsea taking the lead within two minutes through Nicolas Jackson’s header from Cole Palmer’s corner. However, the celebrations that followed ignited a feisty atmosphere in the stadium, further intensified by Madueke’s pre-match comments about Wolverhampton.
Wolves responded with a swift equalizer from Matheus Cunha, set up by a dazzling run from Rayan Ait-Nouri. The game swung back in Chelsea’s favor as Palmer’s audacious lob restored their lead, only for Wolves to level again before halftime through Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The second half belonged to Madueke. In a devastating 14-minute spell, he scored three nearly identical goals, all low angled shots from inside the box, each assisted by Palmer. Joao Felix, also coming off the bench, capped off a brilliant Chelsea performance with a sublime finish in the closing stages. The Portuguese forward, set up by former Wolves winger Pedro Neto, gracefully side-footed the ball into the top corner from near the penalty spot, cementing a 6-2 victory for the Blues.
Defensive lapses and a lack of organization proved costly for Wolves, particularly in the second half. Manager Gary O’Neill lamented the “unacceptable” errors that led to Chelsea’s goals.
For Chelsea, Madueke’s performance was a highlight, silencing his critics and showcasing his ability to thrive under pressure. His three goals at Molineux now surpass his total at Stamford Bridge.
This thrilling victory provides a much-needed boost for Chelsea after their opening-day defeat to Manchester City. While bigger challenges lie ahead, the win marks a positive start for new manager Enzo Maresca and offers hope for a successful campaign.
