Premier League announces its awards for September

The Premier League has announced the best of the month for September. With five goals and one assist, Manchester City’s star man Erling Haaland won the Player of the Month award. His tally included performances against Manchester United (2 goals), Arsenal (1 goal), and Burnley (2 goals and 1 assist). The Norwegian was in the form of his career, as he himself stated,

“I’ve never felt better than I do now.”

The numbers support his statement. As of now, he has scored 18 goals from his opening 11 matches of this year for both club and country. In the Premier League, he has scored 9 goals so far for Manchester City. It should be noted that City have scored 15 goals in total this season, and 9 of them have come from their number “9”. Except for one match against Tottenham Hotspur, Haaland has scored in every game that Manchester City have played.

Another Manchester City player, the summer addition Gianluigi Donnarumma, has been voted for the Save of the Month. The save he made against Bryan Mbeumo in the Manchester derby – which also happened to be his debut match – earned him the award. Like Erling, the Italian is also enjoying a strong run of form in Manchester. He is still unbeaten in his six starts for the club. The fine form of both the frontman and the last line of defence has been a deciding factor in Pep Guardiola’s team rhythm. If they continue producing such performances, it could be a defining factor for Manchester City this season.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been voted Manager of the Month. Crystal Palace secured seven points in September, with the most notable result being their last-minute winner against defending champions Liverpool FC. That victory proved crucial for Glasner and his team. Palace now sit sixth in the league table with 12 points.

Martin Zubimendi’s fierce volley in Arsenal’s 3–0 win against Nottingham Forest has been voted Goal of the Month.

The Premier League will restart on Saturday, October 18. After the international break.
