PSG Steal Victory from Barcelona in Last-Minute Drama
Paris Saint-Germain staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Barcelona 2-1 at the Olympic Stadium, clinching an impressive away win in the Champions League despite being without several of their star names.
Barcelona started brightly and took a deserved lead in the 19th minute. Marcus Rashford slipped a clever ball across the box, and Ferran Torres timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap before calmly finishing past PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
The visitors, missing key players including captain Marquinhos and attacking trio Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, grew stronger as the match wore on. Their persistence was rewarded in the 38th minute when Nuno Mendes produced a dazzling solo run down the left, gliding past three defenders before setting up 19-year-old Senny Mayulu. The teenager kept his composure to slot the ball into the bottom corner, pulling PSG level.
Barcelona struggled to regain their early rhythm after the break, while PSG looked increasingly dangerous on the counter. Substitute Lee Kang-in struck the post late on, but Luis Enrique’s side would not be denied. In the 90th minute, PSG broke swiftly, and Achraf Hakimi delivered a precise cross for substitute Gonçalo Ramos, who fired home from close range to complete the turnaround.
The result left Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong visibly frustrated. “Conceding in the last minute at home is very disappointing,” he admitted, though he insisted the defeat would not be decisive in their campaign.
For PSG, it was another night that showcased their resilience. Mendes, who was named Player of the Match, shone both defensively and going forward, playing a decisive role in the equaliser.
The victory extends PSG’s reputation as comeback specialists, while Barcelona are left to regroup quickly in a competitive Champions League group stage.
